Most first time home buyers are required to take a Homebuyer Education certification class to be eligible to submit applications for a state, county, or city offered down payment assistance program. One requirement is that this class is from a HUD Certified Counseling Agency or Neighborworks America. Below are several sources for competing such a class, most of which run just once or twice per month.

Urban League of Palm Beach County

They offer a First Time Homebuyer workshop in the form of a Zoom meeting. As of this writing the next class is on September 30th, 2023, which is currently fully booked. The next class is on October 14th, registrations open up one week after September 30th. Persons wishing to take this class can register online when it opens and are required to have completed the county required mandatory orientation and have received their certificate. Broward County Housing Authority Homebuyer Education class runs on the Second Saturday of every month from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. by a ZOOM meeting. You can get more information at the link below, to register send an email to housingcounselor@bchafl.org.
